Terranautas

Notes for a new world map

16 April 2025 – 15 November 2025

Terranautas. Notes for a new world map presents a selection of works from the LABoral Centro de Arte’s CRA 2024 program of artist residencies, in which more than 20 artists from Asturias or residing in Asturias participated.

The exhibition gets its title from the novel of the same name by T.C. Boyle (2016), in which the author fictionalizes the story of a real team of scientists who faced having to live in a closed biosphere to understand the operations of different ecosystems on Earth as well as investigating the feasibility of creating environments for possible space colonization on other planets. The experiment set out to clear any doubts regarding an uncertain future and demonstrate that the survival of a small, isolated group is possible, even in adverse conditions.

The exhibition aims to reflect, precisely, new perspectives from research and artistic production to address a complex world, a changing society in which environmental, social and cultural issues require new perspectives. Diverse, respectful and alternative perspectives, perspectives that are capable of creating a better future for the world we have inherited. This exhibition explores themes such as the coexistence between the natural and the artificial, the creation of new common places or the need to generate alternative paths to face the social canon that defines our memory.

The opening programme will feature a DJ set by Gaia Darko from 7.30 p.m. and a drinks bar.
