Inés Benito Riesgo (Pravia, 1998) is a visual artist, with a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Salamanca (2016-2020) and a specialization in Art Editing at the School of Art of Oviedo (2020-2023). She has complemented her training with courses in silkscreen printing, risography and ceramics, also developing self-published projects.
Her work revolves around personal growth and environmental influence, focusing on the experience of sharing an apartment and its impact on one’s identity. Through a visual language that focuses on small details and everyday moments, she tries to capture the essence of these experiences that transform the way we relate to others and to ourselves.
She has participated in artistic residencies in Portugal, where she focused on muralism, and in Alfara (Salamanca), where she was dedicated to engraving and painting. In 2023, she presented her first solo exhibition at Dos Ajolotes Gallery (Oviedo) and she has shown her work in spaces such as Pablo de Lillo Gallery (Oviedo), Espacio Local (Gijón), Valdelarte Museum (Huelva) and the festival “Porrúa en bolas” (2024). She has also participated in Alma Gráfica, International Graphic Art Fair, and received a grant from the CIEC Foundation.

Personal growth is a process influenced by the people around us and the experiences we have. Throughout our lives, we go through different stages and inhabit different spaces that allow us to evolve and develop. A crucial moment in this process occurs when we leave the family home. Nowadays, it is common for young people to have to share a flat, either for financial or study reasons. This cohabitation exposes us to a diversity of perspectives and ways of thinking that, without realising it, shape our identity and our way of seeing the world.
These experiences create unique moments that, although we are often unaware of their impact at the time, have a profound influence on us. Capturing the essence of these moments goes beyond what a simple photograph can convey. Painting, in this sense, becomes a powerful tool for this artist. Inés Benito develops through art a visual language that explores and expresses that which is not evident to the naked eye. Using painting, she highlights small details, those that usually go unnoticed but which carry a great emotional charge. It is in this creative process that the artist finds the magic of transforming the everyday into something extraordinary.
