Our caves (intermediate spaces and assemblages between species)

Design shelters and spaces where humans, animals and plants can coexist.

11 November — 15 November 2025

IPalaeolithic caves were the first mediating structures built by humans to understand and influence the world in which they lived. Their internal enclosures allowed them to come into physical and magical contact with the animals and other entities that populated the territory they shared.

This workshop aims to imagine what our caves would be like today, as observatories and laboratories for new relationships between all living things. We will practise actions that connect perception, imagination, habitation and construction, opening small refuges where we can experience what we call the symbiocene.

Taught by Susana Velasco.

Activities must be booked in advance by contacting the education department at LABoral Centro de Arte via email: educacion@laboralcentrodearte.org, or telephone: 985 185 577.

This workshop is part of the Art and Science Fair. A programme organised by the LABoral Education Department in collaboration with GRIGRI, as part of the Studiotopia Local Challenge Committee.
