Oberhausen on Tour

Film series showing works participating in the Oberhausen International Short Film Festival

Until 26 March 2015

The short film remains one of the main sources of innovation for audiovisual language: the experimental field in which future cinematographic vocabularies crystallize first. Today its diversity of forms, themes and approaches is greater than ever, including elements of fiction, documentary and essayistic reflection through diverse formats such as films, installations, artist videos or animation.

The Oberhausen International Short Film Festival has been part of this field of exploration for over 50 years. Catalyst and, at the same time, showcase of contemporary developments: a discussion forum open to new trends and talent. From Roman Polanski to Cate Shortland, George Lucas to Pipilotti Rist, over the course of more than five decades, it has become one of the most respected film events where big names have presented their first films.

LABoral Center for Art and Industrial Creation joins the world tour sponsored by the Oberhausen Festival, which this year, for the ninth time, will present its programs in 54 venues in 24 countries. In collaboration with the Goethe Institute Madrid and the Gijón International Film Festival, in an attempt to develop a stable film program throughout the year, the Art Center organizes the presentation in Gijón of two programs, one dedicated to international pieces and another, to German pieces, from all the “short films” that entered competition in these sections during the 2014 edition of the Festival.
