Cambiantes (1976/2015), by Brazilian artist and dancer Analivia Cordeiro, inaugurates the new Guest Work programme launched by LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial in 2026, with the aim of activating a dedicated exhibition space for the presentation of a single work from public and private collections.
Considered a seminal work in the history of video art and video dance, Cambiantes will be presented at LABoral Centro de Arte on 2 October, in collaboration with New Art Foundation. A pioneering work of video art in Brazil and one of the earliest international experiments in video dance, the piece explores the relationships between the body, movement, image and technology.
The three-channel video installation created in 2015 draws on the audiovisual material of the original Cambiantes video (1976), while incorporating a new edit and revisiting the spatial concept of the original work: a human-scale cube. Visitors can enter the projection space, where their own shadows enter into dialogue with the figures of the dancers in the video.
Through the Guest Work programme, LABoral will incorporate works from different collections into its programme, with the aim of presenting significant pieces that offer diverse perspectives on the relationship between contemporary art, technologies and social contexts, while addressing different geographies, historical periods and modes of production.
