LABjoven_Los Bragales is a program to support the production of young Asturian artists or artists residing in Asturias, promoted by the Cantabrian businessman and collector Jaime Sordo, owner of the Los Bragales Collection. Through a production residency, more than a dozen artists from the region have been able to produce ambitious projects that were shown in the rooms of the Art Center.
This call, in its twelfth edition, was also affected by the pandemic that marks the year 2020. On this occasion, two prizes were awarded instead of one, for projects that could be shown on the internet.
The results of this work are shown in this in-person exhibition and in another virtual one accessible throughhttps://virtual.laboralcentrodearte.net/.
Both projects also raise reflections that are not unrelated to all the changes that have occurred in recent months, helping us to think about the present and future of the contemporary world from a critical perspective.

Horos kyklos = limit of the wheel, 2020
Horos kyklos = limit of the wheel is an audiovisual installation composed of a piece of video art, photographs and text. Part of the reflections that the artist Hito Steyerl opens in the article “In free fall, an experiment on vertical perspective” (2011). Steyerl links the evolution of the dominant representation of perspective to different historical moments and argues that we live in a context of free fall.
This installation aims to question the meaning of “horizon” as a concept completely linked to a capitalist, colonial, patriarchal, racist and violent system.

Off Love, 2020
Digital online dating applications have recently positioned themselves as the most effective response to current distancing measures, considerably increasing both the sector’s supply and user demand.
In this context, Off Love is proposed, an analysis of the meaning of the links that are formed on and through the Internet. The objective of the project is to offer a reflection on this standardized and repetitive model proposed by the digital market where emotions are exposed to public manipulation, limiting and fragmenting our capacity for emotional closeness.
