Compilation of memories of Central Asturias

Until 20 July 2021

We are looking for people who were born before 1950 and do not use social networks

Penetrating Eyes[Pervasive Eyes] is the title of the project that has set out to find out which are the most loved and valued places in Asturias. To do this, the artist collective Flow Architecture will carry out a geographical study of social networks, a cutting-edge research method that offers the possibility of measuring large-scale social interactions and behaviors.

The results of this system provide representations of the complex connections between a place and its culture, and offer the opportunity to map the emotional bond of the inhabitants with the territory.

However, this type of study presents a striking bias: the frequent limitation of older adults’ access to technology means that the results are limited to the younger generations.

To achieve a more inclusive portrait, Flow Architecture is looking for Asturian men and women born before 1950, who do not use social networks, to collect their testimony in an interview between July 26 and August 6.

In each meeting, the artists will measure the galvanic response of the skin with a sensor, an indicator of the emotional state of the person interviewed. This signal, which is taken through the fingers, helps to detect peaks of interest and extract key words from the conversation, which will then be used to carry out image searches on social networks and thus draw the cultural landscape of the region. .

All people interested in participating are encouraged to contact us by phone 985 18 55 77 before July 20.

The result of this work can be seen in an immersive installation in the fall at LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial.
