We continue with the programme Read the exhibition, this time with the texts by Ursula K. LeGuin that inspired the work El mundo es bosque/el mundu ye viesca by the artists Rotor Studio.
Our initial reference will be “The Name of the World is Forest”, a science fiction novel by Ursula K. Le Guin. Le Guin. The story takes place on the planet Athshe, where the life of the natives will be changed by the arrival of an Earth expedition that will drastically change their peaceful way of life integrated with nature. The work shows us once again the clarity and power of the vision of its author, who, through a science fiction world, highlights the errors and shortcomings of our own.
As in previous sessions, we encourage you to share readings. In this case, texts by Ursula K. Le Guin or texts related to forests, how biodiversity is maintained thanks to them and the multiple threats to which they are subjected, such as fires, indiscriminate logging and the impact of climate change.
This session will be led by the philologist Mar Martín and will include the participation of Rotor Studio (Ángeles Angulo and Román Torre).
