Design market in LABoral that brings together independent creators, designers and editors.
Since December 2008, the LABshop Design Market brings together a large group of independent creators, designers and editors. The objective of this activity is to publicize the activities related to design and creation that take place in Gijón/Xixón and Asturias, as well as other nearby communities.
Both access to the LABshop Design Market and visits to the exhibitions will be free throughout the weekend. Visitors will be able to enjoy the immersive installation The world is forest/El mundu ye viesca, by Rotor Studio; Barricades in the Ice, an exhibition by Oliver Ressler on the climate justice movement; Hardly Working, an audiovisual installation by the Austrian multimedia guerrilla collective Total Refusal; and Pass through the heart again, an exhibition with works by Asturian artists Pablo Casanueva, Sara García, Laura Fjäder and Irene Trapote.
As a featured activity of the weekend, high-grade fire activation will take place, where the artist Sara García will invite us to visit various places through the active experience. We will drink from collected clay vessels and test fermentation processes of cereals, legumes, edible flora and harvested foods and through the senses, we will be able to access the particularities of the territory.

SATURDAY, JUNE 24
– Silkscreen workshop
Artisanal screen printing workshop, where you can learn about the different printing techniques and learn how to screen print a garment.

– Watercolor Workshop
A workshop where we will learn the types of papers, brushes and watercolors to use, how to combine them with dry techniques. It is not necessary to know how to draw since the kit that we will give you at the beginning of the workshop will include some sheets already drawn with a photograph as an example to give it color.

– Botanical Printing Workshop
Nature gives us many more resources than we sometimes imagine. In this workshop we are going to take advantage of all its color so that you can print your own cotton scarf using leaves, roots, bark and other materials. We will also talk about how a fabric should be prepared to be printed or dyed and what are the best materials to start with and the easiest to find.
