Frequencies at the site is a participatory sound installation by the artist María Mieres that transforms the everyday sounds of each locality into a piece of ambient and electronic music created live.
Before each performance, the artist carries out field recordings in the town, capturing characteristic sounds of the surroundings —bells, fountains, footsteps, wind, voices and birds— which are subsequently incorporated into the composition. Each performance thus emerges from the acoustic identity of each town and becomes a unique experience.
During the performance, María Mieres combines these recordings with analogue and digital synthesisers to construct a soundscape in which technology, place and memory engage in dialogue. The audience participates by triggering some of the recorded sounds via a controller, thereby becoming an active part of the improvisation.
‘Frecuencias del lugar’ invites listeners to hear their surroundings from a new perspective, revealing the rich soundscape of each town and transforming its everyday landscapes into a collective experience of contemporary creation.
This performance can be enjoyed on 25, 26 and 27 September in various towns as part of the ‘Arte en las Plazas de Asturias’ programme:
- CANDÁS – Friday 25 September, from 7.00 pm to 8.30 pm
- PRAVIA – Saturday 26 September, from 12.30 pm to 2.00 pm
- CANGAS DE ONÍS – Sunday 27 September, from 12.30 pm to 2.00 pm
