Rotor Studio

Creators of physical devices

Ángeles Angulo and Román Torre form Rotor Studio. The union of their experience in different fields such as performing arts, plastic arts or art with a strong technological component, gives rise to artistic proposals that try to make visible and reflect on different contemporary aspects of our technology / science / society.

Their work is based on the creation of physical devices halfway between digital craftsmanship, industrial design and audiovisual experience, giving rise to this hybridisation of techniques in very diverse formats.

Both individually and as a studio, they have had the opportunity to show their work at various festivals, museums and national venues such as LABoral art centre, Museo Nacional Reina Sofía, Matadero Madrid, Mercat de les Flors, Sonar and Festival LlumBcn, also in Barcelona, being awarded with several prizes, grants and residencies such as the Next Things (LAboral/Telefónica), 1st Prize (Category/Public) at the FIMG the Girona festival, V Barjola prize (Barjola Museum), DKV – Alvarez Margaride production grant, MadeEu at IAAC, Barcelona Mobile Week, etc.

Outside Spain I have also been working in the main cities of countries such as Egypt (International Media Art Forum), Portugal, Colombia, Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Slovenia, Bulgaria, France, UK and have been able to present their pieces or collaborate with other companies in universities, festivals and stages in cities such as NY (Thero, Columbia university), Tokyo (Suntori hall) or Munich (state opera).
