This film tells the story of the mass dismissals of the 1990s in Asturias, focused on the experience in Duro Felguera. This company is a good example of the transformations undergone by Asturias during the 20th century. From being based on the mining and steel industries, the region was gradually transformed, fragmented, and restructured into what it is today. Nonetheless, the film concentrates on a story crucial for a proper understanding of the past few decades in this region: the workers’ struggle and resistance. Starting off from the actions of dismissed workers and the solidarity of the community, a reflection is opened on the conditions of working life in neoliberal societies, while, at the same time, underscoring the capacity of resistance through collective struggle.
