Competition for projects of artistic interventions made with elements taken from the Gijón clean points

EMULSA CALLS “AUTUMN OF RECYCLING”, A COMPETITION FOR ARTISTIC INTERVENTION PROJECTS MADE WITH ELEMENTS TAKEN FROM THE CLEAN POINTS OF GIJÓN

The Municipal Company of Urban Environment Services of Gijón (EMULSA), has called the second edition of the “Autumn of Recycling”, a competition aimed at artists, designers and architects residing in Asturias and who are interested in carrying out interventions in the structure of the “ Recycling Tree”, with materials intended for recycling and coming from the Clean Points of Gijón. The “Autumn of Recycling” has the support of the Municipal Foundation of Culture, Education and Popular University of the Gijón City Council and the LABoral Center for Art and Industrial Creation. Artists, designers and architects residing in Asturias have until October 9 to present their proposals which, if selected, will be exhibited in November, in a public space in Gijón established by EMULSA or the City Council.

After the jury’s decision, scheduled for mid-October, the selected artists will have a period between October 14 and November 7, 2013 to create the works, and this production will have the collaboration of EMULSA, which will also contribute waste from Clean Points, such as pallets, aluminum cans, packaging, cardboard, wood, tires, etc.

The “Autumn of Recycling” is one of the actions included in the Citizen Environmental Awareness Campaign and aims to draw the artistic attention of citizens to the possibilities of many elements that are destined for garbage, as well as to expose the reuse process. of waste, turning them into authentic works of art, real or virtual, that contribute to making the city’s most commercial streets and axes more attractive.
