This exhibition attempts to mimic some of nature’s most astonishing wonders: rainbows and other atmospheric optical phenomena, such as halos and solar coronae.
Impossible Rainbow: an exercise in celestial landscaping is a poetic and critical proposal that fuses art and science. This installation by Lukas Truniger and Bruce Yoder presents a series of synthetic rainbows that move and transform slowly in space, thanks to focused light and specialised optics. The work reflects on the human desire to control nature and addresses issues such as climate engineering and climate change, inviting us to imagine what these phenomena would be like in a future altered by global warming.
