Menhir Workshop. Landscape as sheet music

18th to 19th september 2015

After two months of artistic residency at LABoral, where they have worked on their workMenhir Installation 0, Coco Moya and Iván Cebrián teach this workshop focused on concepts such as landscape as a score, walking as an aesthetic practice and musical improvisation. Menhir Installation 0 is the winning project of the LABjoven_Los Bragales Award, jointly organized by the Los Bragales Collection, owned by the Cantabrian businessman Jaime Sordo, and LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial.

In the workshop, of an eminently practical nature, we will reflect on proprioception as an artistic method, land art and what is necessary for an object to become a musical instrument.

  • Day 18

Exit to the mountain. At 11 in the morning the route to Peña de los Cuatro Jueces will begin.

  • Day 19

During the morning, between 11 and two, participants will work at LABoral where they will use a small assembly of the Menhir Installation 0 installation, which will consist of several charcoal stones, speakers and a touch board. The operation of the installation will be shown and musical improvisations will be performed with the pieces of charcoal as musical instruments. Likewise, an action will be rehearsed in the facility’s own room.

Starting at seven in the afternoon, those attending the workshop will perform a performance-concert open to the public.
