LATEST ADDITIONS

QUAYOLA · STRATA#4

Strata #4 is an immersive video installation curated by the Palais de Beaux Arts in Lille. The object of this work is a series of iconic pieces from the Flemish collection, housed in the museum and specialized in religious paintings by Rubens and Van Dyck. Strata #4 is the result of a process of research into these paintings themselves, revealing what lies behind their figurative appearance and delving into the qualities of composition, color mixtures and proportion of each piece. The work is the result of a meticulous process focused on creating new contemporary images based on the universal laws of beauty and perfection. Documenting the unlikely collisions between the concepts of classical figuration and contemporary abstraction, Strata #4 creates a harmonious dialogue between two worlds seemingly very distant from each other, but that have much in common.

Quayola is a visual artist based in London. His work investigates the dialogues and collisions, tensions and balances between the real and the artificial, the figurative and the abstract, the old and the new. His work explores photography, geometry, audiovisual performance and immersive installations.

YURI SUZUKI · SOUND OF THE WAVES

To close Focus Japan, the cycle dedicated to Japanese artists, the Sound Laboratory, the LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial space dedicated to sound experimentation, collaborates again with the LEV 2015 program by hosting the result of an artistic residency by the Japanese artist Yuri Suzuki, the installation Sound of the waves, in which he recreates the patterns of sea waves, taking data from certain beaches around the world and reproducing them acoustically through traditional African instruments.

Yuri Suzukiis a sound artist, designer and producer of electronic music whose work explores the territory of sound. His work revolves around the relationship between sound and the way music and sound affect the human mind. Suzuki has exhibited his sound art pieces and installations all over the world.

La Pradera de la Aliseda is the new location within the Botanical Garden that will host the daytime programming of the new edition of the LEV

After passing through the old site from other years, in the Boreal lagoon area, a wooden walkway invites us to visit one of the best preserved Alisedas in the north of the peninsula.

In it, the Red Bull Music Academy will present live performances by Yosi Horikawa and Daisuke Tanabe, who will share the stage with local artists Skygaze and Memorabilia, to make us enjoy their sound proposals in an environment of sublime nature, with extended hours until 5 p.m.

This more spacious location seeks to accommodate the attending public more comfortably and will also have good bar service and street food stalls where you can taste delicious appetizers.

(In case the weather conditions are adverse, the activities will be moved to another area of the Botanical Garden called Rionda)
