Learning through design

12th to 29th may 2014

AuLAB proposes new learning spaces through research projects, promoting a change in the organisational and curricular model. In the case of LABoral, it proposes a knowledge of technological language for a transversal use of ICTs while encouraging experimentation and critical thinking.

Digital fabrication or computer-assisted manufacturing makes it possible to materialise a design from a computer file into a physical object. Using fabLAB resources, students would participate in a process of designing a real artefact, generating a new dynamic of interaction with technology, while fostering creative problem solving and a higher level of motivation and self-esteem.

Working with design allows mobilising and transferring knowledge from different fields and integrating it into each student’s own learning and in the context of the classroom or school. Based on the training of teachers in fabLAB, a project to design and manufacture a functional object is proposed.

Aimed at: 2nd cycle primary and secondary school pupils accompanied by their teachers.

Activity subsidised by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport and the Regional Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport of the Government of the Principality of Asturias.
