Call for production scholarships for Asturian artists or artists residing in Asturias

LABjoven_Experimenta is one of the production programs with the most roots in the Art Center that has given the opportunity to emerging artists from Asturias to use LABoral Centro de Arte and its resources as a platform for the realization and dissemination of ambitious artistic projects. The program seeks to energize and grow the art scene in Asturias, through support for the youngest artists in the region.

Objective of the call
The objective of this annual call is to award a scholarship to carry out an artistic project that reflects, in a broad way, on contemporary challenges and their relationship with technology. The project has to be conceived specifically for exhibition at LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial.

Addressed to
Artists born in Asturias, or residents in the Principality of Asturias or descendants of Asturians up to the second degree, whose age does not exceed 40 years as of December 31, 2022.

In the case of groups, it is not required to justify their legal relationship but one of the members must meet both requirements.

Financial endowment

The financial award of the scholarship amounts to €7,500, divided into €2,500 in production and transfer fees and €5,000 in production expenses. The amounts indicated are gross and will be subject to the appropriate taxation.

The jury of the call, formed by Alfonso Palacio Álvarez, Director of the Museum of Fine Arts of Asturias; Ana Mª Fernández García, Professor of Art History at the University of Oviedo and Patricia Villanueva Illanes, Head of Exhibitions at LABoral Centro de Arte, selected the Vacation proposal by the artist Olmo Cuña, as the winner of the scholarship for its “conceptual solidity that addresses to issues that have to do with heritage, ethnography or sociology. “It also presents a good resolution at a formal level and an anchorage in the territory.”
