L.E.V. 2017

L.E.V.,Also known as the Visual Electronics Laboratory, it is the International Festival of Audiovisual Creation of Gijón. This is a project with more than 10 years of experience that since its inception aims to offer the broadest possible vision of electronic sound creation and its relationship with the visual arts.

L.E.V.It is a festival especially interested in the natural synergy between image and sound, in live action and in new artistic currents that continually emerge at a global level.

Designed and conceived by the Asturian collective Datatrón, it is co-produced by the Government of the Principality of Asturias, the Gijón City Council and LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial.

The Visual Electronics Laboratory distributes its activities year after year in different spaces of the Laboral Ciudad de la Cultura cultural complex, such as the Theater, the old Sports Courts or the LABoral Art Center. In addition, it intervenes in the Atlantic Botanical Garden of Gijón and in various museum spaces in the city center, generating a circuit of unique experiences that brings to the public a selection of the most interesting and avant-garde proposals on the international audiovisual scene.

The L.E.V. It will be held from April 27 to 30, 2017 in the city of Gijón and will feature a program full of risky and innovative proposals that transcend classic formats within the fields of international sound and visual creation. Thus, its eleventh edition will feature its now classic audiovisual live shows, performances, presentations, documentaries, workshops and a circuit of installations in different cultural spaces in the city.

The L.E.V. will feature the hypnotic postpunk ofFactory Floor, the new coordinates of techno supported bySamuel KerridgeeitherContainer, the audiovisual dystopias of collaborative projects such as “Lexachast” byAmnesia Scanner & Bill Kouligaswith visual artist Harm Van Den Dorpel or “Sirens” byNovi_Sad & Ryoichi Kurokawaand its aesthetic appropriation of data from the worst economic recessions, the revelation of the invisible in light and sound withMartin Messieror the synesthetic processes ofNicolas BerniereitherAlex Augier. You can also enjoy the symphony of post-sacred tones and harmonies ofKara Lis Coverdaleaccompanied by the visual imagery ofM.F.O., the new project from a pioneer of the Detroit scene likeJohn Beltrannext to SpanishOscar Soland the most avant-garde sounds of the new scene withSynkro, YOVVVOeitherskygaze.With the help of the Red Bull Music Academy we can enjoy the presentation of the new work ofHauschka, accompanied by the visual artistFlorence To. Another exciting addition to the line-up is a specially designed A/V live stream byByetone and Markus Heckmannfor its premiere at the L.E.V. 2017. The visionary also joinsLogos, one of the most fascinating creators of the new British scene, discovering new unreleased material for the first time in live format; the voyeur raveLorenzo Sennipresenting Persona, his acclaimed new work for Warp; the solo project of a true space cadet as she isKiki Hitomi, the very personal voice of King Midas Sound; and the delicate and fascinating layers of sound of the CanadianJulia Kent.

This project is the result of a month-long residency at LABoral Centro de Arte within the framework of the ENCAC Network (the European Network for Contemporary Audiovisual Creation), to which festivals and cultural institutions of international scope as relevant as CTM Festival belong. , ARS Electronica, Resonate, Mapping Festival, Elektra, Le Lie Unique, LABoral and L.E.V. Festival, among others.

To finish off the programming the L.E.V. festival closes its lineup with the additions ofGeometry of Splendor; a documentary about the legendary industrial music group Esplendor Geometrico; a Jägermusic Showcase focused on supporting emerging state musical creation withHuias,RRUCCULLAandArk9, the presentation ofOctober, the new solo project by Juan Casamayor (Suit Tiger), the collaborations of the visual artistOscar Solwith Logos and John Beltran and, finally, to put the finishing touch, the L.E.V. organize yourClosing Partyin itClub Lannaof Gijón with the presence ofRob Hall and Komatssu.
