Project

Carlos Coronas makes dramatic sculptural installations that examine highly charged visual orchestrations that are both shared social and psychological concepts. Coronas’ work explores the split between the state of being and appearance, often placing issues surrounding space and time at the forefront of his works. Coronas is always interested on the final assembly of his signature neon works – he creates situations where the line between interior and external sense of self is in conflict. For his LABoral installation, Coronas has conceived a large-scale neon light installation focusing on the concept of utopia and beauty. The lights create a tight knit core reminiscent of early drawings for what utopia might have looked like.
