Exhibition of Gaia and Sophia’s Eco-Workshops at ecoLAB. Talk and presentation on Friday 4 November at 18.00 h, Ecoworkshop Saturday 3 December at 10h30.
On November 2, the Zaragozano Almanac reminds us that it is San Justo and San Roque, and that the moon is in its first quarter, more precisely in Aquarius. That same day, a new spatial instant of condensed time will be part of the ecoLAB exhibition hall, in the South Warehouse of LABoral. An anthology of graphic moments, artistic contributions and reflections resulting from experiences facilitated in Ecological Farms during the Ecoworkshop Meetings held in Asturias during Summer 2011.
With the name (proposition) Living Experiences we want to encompass the synergistic result of the symbiosis between the ecoLAB and the ecoworkshop meetings; their coexistence in the exhibition hall, in the non-garden and through activities immersed in them.
On Friday, November 4 at 6:00 p.m. An eco-espicha talk-presentation will take place, which will try to share a little how and why the eco-workshop meetings took place and what those of us who are part of them have learned. Taking advantage of this unique and rich opportunity; The Ecotalleres Meetings project will take a qualitative leap, typical of a research site such as platform zero, and will venture into urban domains for the first time.
On Saturday, December 3 at 10:30 a.m., an Ecotalleres meeting will take place in the non-techno-ecological garden of LABoral. A complex context creating a world to come, a dream landscape in a changing era. A sense of place, which like the other past homes of the eco-workshop meetings, is part of the socio-ecological transformation that our era manifests. We propose a dynamic and fluid process, which, channeled by the facilitation of the Ecoworkshops and the co-creation of the Invisible Curriculum, aims to broaden the pilgrimage that gives life to the project.
The term Ecotalleres is synonymous with “home workshops.” Eco-, “oikos” from Greek, comes to encompass what we usually distinguish as house, home and family; referring both to the material space in which we live (the environment), and to the homely feeling that the family that lives there shares. An Ecotaller is like a room, with its details and shapes, which gives rise to a certain way of functioning, within that home, which we form the great family of planet Earth.
“Context” is a key aspect of the so-called invisible curriculum, since we recognize that learning does not take place anywhere and therefore spaces are an essential and integral element of environmental education. People are enriched both by the environment in which they are learning and by their teachers and peers. Much of this learning is conscious, but it can also be – and often is – unconscious. Unless attention is drawn to it, many participants simply do not realize what they are learning. Therefore, attributing this value to the context, the selection of the places where the meetings are hosted and the artistic projection that is implemented there, is done with the intention of highlighting the ecological spirit of each place; their sense of place.
Live experiencesIt aims to create the space and processes necessary to encourage the creation of links, networks and relationships between attendees. It motivates us to think that we will always meet someone new with a lot to contribute to a project with open doors.
Moments and artistic elements of the Living Experiences process
Video and images of “Ecotalleres Meeting”
A video and a collection of photographs will allow visitors to the exhibition to savor some of the feelings captured by cameras during the three eco-workshop meetings held during the summer of 2011.
Milestones and Balances by Babubai
Scattered throughout the landscape of the Ecoworkshop Meetings, milestones and balances are placed that serve as links between the ecoworkshops and the place. Each piece ephemerally stages the place and harmony of the encounter. Symbols of the union between art and ecology that will give meaning and process to the activities that we will develop in the Ecoworkshops.
The fluid mosaic of the participants of the Ecotalleres Meeting
The nature of the fluid mosaic aims to be a reflection of the collective experience, in addition to the qualities and feelings that the landscape and the environment transmit to us. Therefore, this mosaic will be exhibited adopting different arrangements, compositions in each place it visits. This is intended to express the complexity of the story, and therefore the diversity of compositions and interpretations.
Pumpkin maze. Life is like poetry
There will be a labyrinth that can be visited by anyone at any time, individually or collectively. Through the walk, the path that it shows us, we experience the ins and outs of life, of all life; that they are not the complications of society, but the path that we experience every day as human beings, and the complex natural network in which we sustain ourselves. As we advance towards the center of the maze marked by colorful pumpkins, we leave another world behind to discover a new idea, a piece of poetry, a children’s song or a new word challenge, which is part of us and opens our perceptions. Whoever wants to take them can reflect on it, and whoever wants can enjoy the surprise as an anecdote of the day. Life is like poetry, of rhymes and phrases, of actions and found paths.
Audio of the exhibition in the South Warehouse
For this exhibition, the Asturian artists Las CasiCasiotone have created a sound landscape made through field recordings (some of them from the workshops themselves) and sounds generated by analog and virtual instruments. This sound compendium generates an environmental landscape that accompanies the exhibition, transporting the viewer to the most intimate places of nature.
Text Live Experiences
