Plastic Arts Circuits, 2016

26 October 2017 – 07 January 2018

A sample of the winning projects in the 27th edition of this call promoted by the Community of Madrid.

Plastic Arts Circuits, 2016 is an exhibition project showcasing the works of the artists selected in the 2016 edition of the public call that grants aid for the production of works to ten artists under 35 years of age residing in Madrid and organised by the Comunidad de Madrid in collaboration with the Principality of Asturias and LABoral Centro de Arte.

The exhibition, curated by Virginia Torrente, offers a diverse and coherent panorama of the variety of current artistic practices. The works of the artists in the exhibition appeal to emotional questions, close to reality and fantasy, close to one of the most used linguistic concepts nowadays: ‘post-truth’.

The artists selected for this exhibition are: Ana Esteve Reig, Julia Llerena, Cristina Mejías, Federico Miró, Sofía Montenegro, Andrés Pachón, Javier Rodríguez Lozano, Alejandro S. Garrido, Françoise Vanneraud, Denica Veselinova.

As in the previous edition, due to the agreement between the Comunidad de Madrid and the Principality of Asturias, the jury selected one of the artists, in this case Denica Veselinova, with a production residency grant at LABoral.

The work produced with this grant will form part of the Circuitos de Artes Plásticas 2016 exhibition. Simultaneously to the exhibition at LABoral Centro de Arte in Gijón, a selection of works by the same ten artists will be presented at the Sala Borrón in Oviedo, always linked to the works presented at the Sala de Arte Joven de la Comunidad de Madrid in January 2017.
