Exhibition of projects of the Call for Artistic Residencies 2021
The projects presented in this exhibition are part of the 2021 Artistic Residencies programme that hosted more than 40 artists from Asturias or living in Asturias.
Although this is not an exhibition with a curatorial narrative linking the works, they all share an interest in offering a critical look at the present and researching about contemporary issues through artistic practice.
The participating artists try to respond to concerns about the overexposure to images of today’s world, their relationship with reality and the idea of truth, the need for a return to the calm and repose of childhood, the knowledge of the outside world from family experiences, the recovery of feminist genealogy through the lives of two Asturian women or the plastic possibilities of the human body and gender.
This small approach to the contemporary production of artists from the Asturian context shows works that are based on observation and experiences in their immediate environment, but with the will and quality to go beyond the borders of their territory of origin.
