Presentation of the publication LaXatalaRifa 2012-2022. 10 years of artistic agitation in the Asturian rural culture

This publication presents the trajectory of La Xata la Rifa, an artistic proposal promoted by Mónica Cofiño, which over the last decade has catalysed an innovative dialogue between rural culture and the most contemporary plastic, visual, scenic and sound arts. In different regions of Asturias, she has brought together more than 200 artists with farmers, livestock breeders and mine workers to generate new narratives and artistic and cultural manifestations of an interdisciplinary and participatory nature. Her work has been the subject of academic study, through a substantial collaboration with researchers from the Department of History of Art at the University of Oviedo.

The publication is part of STUDIOTOPIA, a European initiative that seeks to increase collaboration between cultural and research institutions, universities, innovation centres, artists and citizens. The aim of the project is to raise awareness and encourage creative and critical reflection on the environmental challenges currently facing our society.
