‘Bestiary’ is a creative workshop inspired by medieval bestiaries, those ancient illustrated books that brought together real animals and fantastical creatures. Drawing on this visual tradition, and comparing it with contemporary artistic projects such as Joan Fontcuberta’s ‘Fauna’, the workshop invites participants to create a bestiary of species assembled from electronic waste. Hybrid beings which, like monsters, challenge the natural order. Each participant will create one or more works that will ultimately form part of a collective installation designed to stimulate critical visual thinking about waste and nature.
This workshop will be led by Alejandro Fuertes, an artist and PhD in Creation and Research in Contemporary Art.
