David Alonso (Llevólu’l Sumiciu)

1 February 2024 – 31 July 2024

David Alonso Jiménez (Oviedo, 1994), works as a freelance in the audiovisual sector as a video technician and audiovisual producer. Since he was a teenager, he has been close to the world of music, playing in groups of different styles. This proximity to the artistic world motivated him to change the direction of his studies and training to redirect his career, which brought me back to Asturias. In parallel to his work in the audiovisual sector, he tried to experiment and develop as a visual artist.

Project in residence

Pixeirada

The ‘Pixeirada’ project proposes an immersive audiovisual experience, mixing heritage with innovation, the past with the present.

Pixeirada was born as an audiovisual fragment within the proposal of the electronic music duo Llevólu’l Sumiciu.

Llevólu’l Sumiciu is the audiovisual project of the brothers Pablo and David Alonso. In it, electronic rhythms are fused with Asturian musical tradition, uniting two disparate worlds and accompanying it with a captivating visual spectacle.

Based on the Asturian historical audiovisual archive and new technologies, Pixeirada seeks to create an immersive audiovisual experience, mixing heritage with innovation, the past with the present.

This proposal focuses on the visual part, trying to relate image and music to create an immersive audiovisual environment. Experimenting with the ways in which we can see the music or listen to the images.

On a technical level, the aim is to create audiovisual pieces that combine and connect live video software (Synesthesia, Resolume, Magic, Touchdesigner), audio (Ableton) and lights, so that they can be performed and improvised live.

Project selected in the 1st Call for Artistic Residencies 2024.
