LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial, in collaboration with the Port Authority of Gijón, has opened the call for applications for the Puerto del Musel – LABoral Artistic Production Grant, an initiative that seeks to promote a contemporary creative project linked to the port environment.
The proposal invites reflection on the port as a space of transit, memory and transformation, where industrial, environmental and social dynamics converge. The selected project must establish a dialogue with the port, the sea or the oceans, from artistic, technological, ecological or social perspectives, in line with LABoral’s framework at the crossroads between art, science, technology and society.
Who is it aimed at?
The call is aimed at individual or collective visual artists of national scope, residing in Spain, with no age limit. A single project will be selected, which will be developed in residence at LABoral approximately between mid-June and mid-July 2026.
The grant is worth 6,000 euros. In addition, the selected person or collective will have access to workspace, curatorial support and technical resources. The project will culminate in an exhibition at the Exhibition Hall of the Antigua Rula de la Autoridad Portuaria de Gijón, which will be open to the public between 23 July and 30 August.
The deadline for submitting applications is from 2 to 27 March 2026, until 11:00 a.m. The decision will be announced in the last week of April and published on the LABoral website, where the full terms and conditions and the registration form can be found.
The call for applications, aimed at artists residing in Spain, will enable them to undertake a production residency at LABoral, culminating in an exhibition at the Antigua Rula during the summer of 2026.
