LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial and Gijón Impulsa are launching the 8th edition of the LABoral Impulsa residency programme, a joint initiative aimed at supporting entrepreneurs and micro-businesses in the cultural and creative industries sector in the municipality of Gijón.
The programme, which is being developed within the framework of the strategic project ‘Gijón Creativo’ and the Milla del Conocimiento, aims to strengthen the local cultural innovation ecosystem by providing spaces, technical resources, business advice and specialised support to projects with potential for growth and consolidation.
Eight projects selected through a public call
The call will select up to eight entrepreneurs or micro-enterprises in the cultural and creative field. The following may apply:
- Entrepreneurs who are developing a project that could become a business initiative in Gijón.
- Professionals or individual entrepreneurs who started their economic activity less than five years ago and have their tax domicile in Gijón.
- Small businesses less than five years old located in the municipality.
The selection will be made by a joint committee made up of representatives from both entities, with the possibility of expert advice.
Nine-month residency at LABoral
The residency period will run from 4 May 2026 to 30 January 2027, with applications open from 23 February to 10 April 2026.
The residencies will take place at LABoral headquarters, in a specific space set up for the LABoral Impulsa programme, which includes shared work areas, meeting rooms and storage areas, with capacity for up to eight projects.
Resources, support and promotion
The selected individuals and companies will have access to:
- Workspaces and access to digital design and manufacturing, audiovisual and sound laboratories.
- Ongoing training linked to creative methodologies and processes at the intersection of art, science, technology and society.
- Monthly coordination and follow-up meetings.
- Support for national and international dissemination and promotion.
- A programme of quarterly sessions with professionals and case study analysis.
- Participation in an annual exhibition of results and processes at the end of the residency.
For its part, Gijón Impulsa will offer legal and financial advice, business mentoring, access to its training programmes and resources, as well as individualised monitoring of the projects.
Strategic boost to the local creative economy
The cultural and creative sector is a strategic area for the sustainable and innovative economic development of the city. With this new edition of LABoral Impulsa, both entities reinforce their commitment to the professionalisation, consolidation and growth of Gijón’s creative fabric, promoting knowledge transfer, cooperation between agents and the creation of new business opportunities.
