Shadow theatre performance with orchestra

Luz, micro y punto, as a visual artist, has collaborated in this project directed by Alejandro Carantoña, creating a fantasy world through the technique of Shadow Theatre and based on four musical pieces performed by the OSPA (Principality of Asturias Symphony Orchestra) for the NBO2020 in the Príncipe Felipe Auditorium in Oviedo.

Hänsel und Gretel – Engelbert Humperdinck
Danse Macabre in G Minor – Camille Saint-Saëns
Serenade for Strings in E Major – Dvorak
Lady in the dark – Kurt Weill

The show begins with Hänsel’s dream and gradually awakens an orchestra of 65 musicians conducted by Daniel Sánchez Velasco. At the same time, the two hattists create the first light that will give life and consistency to the ethereal. It continues with the vertiginous piece that reaches a musical and visual climax with a dance dedicated to death, followed by the soft and romantic serenade linked to light movements of fluids of colour and texture that contain, in a circle, the recollection and delicacy. And it ends with a playful piece, charged with the nocturnality, mystery, desire and love of the orchestrated musical.
Luz, micro y punto deploys its multiple techniques and visual, body and mask works to capture in image the exciting and striking melodies of this distant classical repertoire of orchestral music.
