The work “souvenirs entomologiques #1: odonata / weathering data” explores humans, climate and insects in a data-driven world. It follows dragonflies at multiple scales across time and space: from ecosystems to museum collections, from weather worlds to data clouds, from their geological past to uncertain futures. Insects are mediated, shaped and reshaped by co-evolutionary modes of mapping, monitoring and collecting. On the brink of the extinctions of biocultural diversity, the speculative video essay traces the metamorphosis of a databank into a network of conscious collection that reflects on the gaps between data, evidence and knowledge: by stopping monological accumulations of data, it is eventually unlocking the space of memory for a collection of alternate knowledges, cultural values, colonial histories, as a basis for ecological futures.
