This project stems from the artist’s personal experience of not being a mother, but it seeks to go beyond the autobiographical.

Aranda is interested in the forms of continuity, legacy and care that exist outside motherhood. Do they need to exist?

We live in a culture where motherhood continues to occupy a very central place, whilst there are far fewer images, narratives or spaces in which to consider other possible lives.

The artist addresses this reality through the language of contemporary art, with the aim of raising questions, generating images and reflecting on experience, the body and representation.
