Composition by Las CasiCasiotone & Mind Revolution for the project El arte y su sonido
Composition by Las CasiCasiotone & Mind Revolution for the project El arte y su sonido, a LABoral project, coordinated by José Manuel Costa in collaboration with Juanjo Palacios. As part of the exhibition Visualizar el sonido, curated by Fiumfoto.
We think that a composition whose sound source is fundamentally oral must have the word as its formal and aesthetic referent. However, the very definition of the term (sound or set of articulated sounds that express an idea) determines two possible approaches: on the one hand the meaning of the message and on the other the “acoustic image” or signifier.
At all times our priorities were to create a structurally balanced soundscape representative of the reality around the exhibition being recorded, but without ever losing sight of the musical and harmonic essence of the whole.
The result is an attempt to unite and contextualise the web of ideas woven by the protagonists in the successive days in which they expressed their opinions and concerns, and the sound game that was offered to us from the phonetics and physics of oral language.
Our final objective was to achieve a symbiosis between both aspects with a polyphonic textural framework, paying a small tribute to the whole tradition of western vocal music but from the perspective given by the new tools and creative resources of sound art.
