Video and reimagined equestrian sculptures
–
In No más héroes, Avelino Sala reflects on the construction of historical narratives and the way in which certain figures of power have been extolled and turned into symbols of authority and greatness.
The installation is based on a series of equestrian sculptures in which the artist intervenes by removing the figure of the rider and retaining only a few elements associated with his presence. Through this transformation, Sala questions the traditional representation of the hero and the mechanisms by which history has contributed to the glorification of certain figures, the majority of whom are male.
This work also establishes a dialogue with the present, centring on the ideas of memory, leadership and symbols of power.
