WHAT IT IS

The HAIKEA Room Unit resolves the core around which all the technical furnishings required for a home will be arranged. This core, the HAIKOMPACT, is a box-like wall containing all the electrical, telephone, plumbing and sanitary installations, to which the furniture is attached. It is also a piece of furniture, which is dry-assembled with screws and is made from cheap, easy-to-manufacture materials.
It can be placed anywhere in the space to be inhabited and only needs to be connected to the general electricity and telephone socket, to the cold water socket, to a drainage outlet and to a smoke evacuation outlet.

WHAT IT CONSISTS OF
The interior contains, in addition to all the corresponding pipes, a built-in cistern for the toilet, a suction pump to recycle water from the shower and washbasin to the cistern, a solid waste disposer with mechanical expulsion, the central electrical panel, 50 litre electric heater, electric heating accumulator, the air extraction systems in the bathrooms, built-in lights, washbasin and mirror.

On the outside, there are sockets to which all the sanitary fittings, taps and electrical appliances are connected to ensure comfort in today’s home, however small it may be: television, DVD, computer, router, printer, refrigerator, washing machine, dishwasher, ceramic hob, extractor hood, oven/microwave, sink, toilet and shower.

HAIKEA is a 2.00 x 2.00 x 2.10 m³ living machine with specialised uses on each side, so that any appliance requiring remote connection is always in contact with HAICOMPACT. It consists of a kitchen on one side, a dressing room and wardrobe on the other, a shower room with shower, washbasin and toilet on the third and, on the fourth, if attached to the wall, connections to the outside or, if the connection is made through the floor or ceiling, a furnished front for a lounge/office. The upper side can be converted into a bedroom area, provided there is sufficient ceiling height. The floor area is only 4.00 m².

Both the components contained in HAIKOMPACT and those that are attached to it and make up the HAIKEA volume can be found in commercial catalogues of affordable brands in terms of price and location. The FAKTUM, BESTÅ and SULTAN systems from IKEA have been used for the kitchen and the wardrobes in the front of the living room and bedroom respectively; the electrical appliances are from WHIRPOOL for IKEA and the Pro WC System and bathroom collections from ROCA are used in the sanitary area.

APPLICATIONS
HAIKEA is oriented in the space it occupies depending on its configuration and allows both the inversion of the faces on the proposed model and its extension by extrusion through the addition of modules.
This is why HAIKEA can be placed in areas of any size and shape, although the proposed model, highly condensed, is ideal inside small dwellings or in the case of temporary occupations in which, being removable, it minimises the effects of regulatory constraints.

HAIKEA is economical and quick to build and allows, with a minimum of building work, the immediate use of all the housing facilities, which is advantageous in cases of self-built projects that are prolonged over time.

ASSEMBLY
HAIKEA cracks the IKEA assembly instruction model to create its own HAIKOMPACT execution manual and accompanies the links to the manuals of existing products that have been adopted in the design (service in progress).
The precise tools can be found in any hardware or DIY shop. Some are supplied by the manufacturer together with the purchased furniture.
