This project began as a collection of televised moments of silence: a growing archive that captures those solemn instants transformed into media rituals. It reflects on an era shaped by economic and ecological crises as well as by social injustice, in which silence functions as both a collective gesture and a symptom.
The project’s name pays tribute to John Cage’s composition 4′ 33” (1952), whose experimental radicalism it shifts to the realm of public memory. Here, being silent is not emptiness but rather a political construct: a choreographed pause that moves between the promised utopia and the persistent dystopia.
