Xata la Rifa

Dancer and event producer. Graduated in Tourism, graduated in Classical-Spanish at the Professional Dance Conservatory of Madrid, she completed her training at the Choreographic Centre of León, at the Institut del Teatre of Barcelona, and enriched her interests and training in different countries. She collaborates with video-creators such as Fium, DeNooijer, Surasi Kusolwong, works as a performer for the artists Marcelï Antunéz, Cuco Suárez, Jordi Val-lamora, Annie Sprinkle… as an assistant with Marina Oural, Delphine Coutant, Rodrigo García, Rocío Molina and Carlos Marquerie. Co-founder of the collective Las Bailarinas Parabólicas and the project La Pecera Elástica. He received the Injuve 2009, Astragal 2010 and ALnorte 2016 awards.
He is currently developing the La Xata la Rifa Laboratory, where he investigates forms of representation, claims new circuits and times in art, questions the spectator’s gaze and responds to other funding mechanisms. It organises La Xata la Rifa Festival in towns in Asturias and takes its Cowshows and cowfunding to cities and towns in the USA, Cuba, Costa Rica, France and Spain. Co-produces the 5th tour for a Floating Piano in Spain with the company Le piano du Lac. He currently lives between La Estación de Tren de Carbayín, Gozón and the French Alps, weaving together tradition, passion and innovation.

Texto y danza para vacas
For two weeks, LABoral’s Project Room will host rehearsals for the piece Texto y danza para vacas, reincarnated in Xata la Rifa, a laboratory that investigates other forms of representation, claims new art circuits, questions the spectator’s gaze and responds to new forms of financing.
The second edition of La Xata la Rifa Festival has recently been organised in towns in Asturias. After performing the XataTour of the Cowshow and the Cowfunding Popular in the USA, Cuba, Costa Rica, France, this show is now on its way to the Feria de la Ascensión. It will soon be performed in Crete and Valencia.
This year the festival returns to its origins and wants to make the feast by train, generating a circuit of blocks and sub-rural spaces in the north through the sale of tickets and a lot of collaboration.
Text and dance for cows explores the complexity of rural habits, of dance, of the simplicity of observation, of the naturalness of a being associated only with consuming grass, giving milk and dying to feed us.
Text, dance, animation, original music and collaborative actions for an experiment dedicated to the most tender and cruel rural reality: we are all from the village and we are all fucking cows!
Xata la Rifa will hold rehearsals open to the public on May 23 and 24, from noon to 7:00 p.m., during LABoral’s opening hours, in LABoral’s Project Room.
The show will be performed in La Losa, Oviedo, on the 30th and 31st of May on the occasion of the Feria de la Ascensión.
