Born in 1968 in Salzburg, she is a visual artist, jeweller and curator.
She studied at the Linz University of Art and Design, specialising in textiles, and at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, where she completed a master’s degree in fine art.
Ursula Guttmann has long been working with fashion, accessories and jewellery and their role as an interface between identity and society.
For her, clothing and accessories are connecting elements and means of communication between the individual, his or her personal feelings and society.
For the artist, the body is not only ‘decorated’ by ‘jewellery’, but integrated into it. In this way, clothing, jewellery and body combine in Ursula Guttmann’s works to form an installation.
Her most recent projects have mainly consisted of curating exhibitions, but she continues to organise her own exhibitions and to participate in shows at home and abroad.
