Project in residence

Molding mourning mouths

Sara García’s project is based on working with bread, given its characteristic as an offering and its connection with hospitality, as well as with climate change and the mourning we are experiencing due to the irreversible loss of biodiversity.

Formally, the project consists of a series of mourning ceremonies in which offerings made with bread are made to the Earth, to beings other than humans and to the attendees.

Moulding mourning mouths is part of SAiR, a three-year project co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme in Athens: Snehta Residence, Ljubljana: MGLC Švicarija – International Centre for Graphic Arts, Prague: MeetFactory, Madrid: Matadero – Centro de Creación Contemporánea.

Project selected in the 1st Call for Artistic Residencies 2024.
