Project in residence

RCMTA (Reinterpretación contemporánea de la música tradicional asturiana)

The RCMTA project (Contemporary Reinterpretation of Traditional Asturian Music) seeks the study, documentation and reinterpretation of the forms of expression and communication of traditional Asturian music, giving it a novel vision through the image and form of representation.

The project is divided into two parts:

– First part (video): The first part will consist of the voice and image recording of different Asturian tune performers. An image will be recorded in very close-up format, to highlight the vocal strength and communicate through these frames the power and purity of this art.

– Second part (photography): The second part of the project consists of working on the aesthetics and form of representation (costume, makeup…) of the traditional bagpipe and drum couples, tambourine players and traditional dance couples. This will help the growth of our folklore thanks to the opening of new communication channels for the network that comprises it.
