María Ortiz Iglesias

1 September 2025 – 31 January 2026

María Ortiz (1995, Asturias), also known as ‘Rapacina’, sees drawing as a way of questioning the world. Her work is based on everyday life, but always hides an underlying intention: to point out what is uncomfortable, what is repetitive, what needs to be told in a different way.

She has a degree in Graphic Design (Escuela Superior de Arte del Principado de Asturias) and a postgraduate degree in Teacher Training, specializing in Drawing (University of Oviedo – Asturias, Spain). She attended the VII International Illustration Course directed by Isidro Ferrer and GrassaToro (Albarracín-Aragón, Spain) and completed a distance learning Master’s Degree in Digital Marketing and Social Networks at the Camilo José Cela University.

Since 2016, she has been working as an illustrator, visual artist, and teacher. Her practice ranges from digital to analog, pencil to banner, tenderness to protest. Her projects have been shown in exhibitions, publications, and social media, but above all, they live in the classroom, in the streets, and on the margins from which she draws.

Consejos del mi güelu

Consejos del Mi Güelu is a poetic journey that invites us to reflect on life, learning and connecting with our roots. It pays homage to the wisdom passed down from generation to generation. Through the words of our grandfathers, we explore the connection to our roots and the importance of learning from those who came before us. Each piece of advice is a seed that germinates in our minds and hearts. The short film reminds us that to grow is not only to increase in physical size, but also to be reborn every day. Every dawn is an opportunity to improve, strengthen oneself and learn. Silence and reflection are part of this constant process.
