Marcos Cueto

29 April 2026 – 31 January 2027

Marcos Cueto is a Doctor of Industrial Engineering, a designer and a researcher affiliated with the University of Oviedo. His career lies at the intersection of engineering, technological innovation and emotional design. He has worked in research, technology transfer, teaching and the commercialisation of R&D results, participating in projects with companies and universities and developing products in sectors such as consumer goods, industry, health and energy.

The inventor of several patents, utility models and registered designs, his work has been recognised with an honourable mention at the European Product Design Awards and with an IPfest Asturias award in the category for the most disruptive patent. In his doctoral research, he proposed a new design methodology in which industrial property ceases to be a final aspect of the project and instead becomes a catalyst for form. He currently runs D I S E N I O, a technology-based industrial design agency and university spin-off, through which he explores new ways of creating unique objects using digital manufacturing and artificial intelligence.

Project in residence

D I S E N I O lab

D I S E N I O lab is a residency programme focused on applied learning, experimentation and prototyping in strategic industrial design. Its aim is to harness LABoral’s digital fabrication resources to translate a unique methodology—which integrates design, engineering, artificial intelligence and innovation protection strategies from the earliest stages of the project—into physical form. The residency is conceived as a space of contrast between thought and matter, where ideas, formal languages and digital tools are put to the test against real materials, assemblies, iterations and construction decisions.
