Project in residence
Esther Mañas and Arash Moori will develop during their residency at LABoral their proposal (Cu), the winning project of the DKV Seguros – Álvarez Margaride Production Grant, jointly organized by the insurance company and LABoral Centro de Arte.
The artists will remain at LABoral for two months at Plataforma 0. Centro de Producción de LABoral, prior to their presentation to the public starting on June 17th. (Cu) proposes the use of copper as a guiding thread through a search and monitoring of its traces in the history and territory of Asturias; as well as an artistic material in its electronic, electrical and sculptural applications. During these two months of residence the artists will delve into the recycling capacity and electrical conductivity of this material, as well as the symbolic ties that bind it to the areas of Asturias dedicated to its extraction and production at different historical moments.
The artists plan, therefore, to create a series of works based on the fusion of sculptural techniques, electronic technology and the use of electromagnetic phenomena. The production process and research will be part of the final exhibition of the project.
