Cristina Busto and Fasenuova

1 September 2015 – 15 May 2016

From a background in visual arts, Cristina Busto uses traditional animation as a vehicle towards video art. There is a moment in which she comes into contact with the performing arts and her work takes a turn towards action.

The experimentation with the possible combinations between drawing, video, installation and performance, gives rise to the creation of live visuals.

In this way of working, he is interested in the creation of an atmosphere in which to find himself generating a present, rather than the idea of narrating past experiences.

Roberto Lobo and Ernesto Avelino have been shaking and transgressing the limits of the roughest and most experimental electronic music for 20 years. Hypnotic and asphyxiating sounds that are born from the deepest of the Asturian mining basin, where the wild nature confronts the industrial legacy.

We could talk about Throbbing Gristle, Suicide, Esplendor Geométrico or Cabaret Voltaire, but the truth is that Fasenuova has managed to carve a totally own and magnetic identity, an exciting and absolutely essential imaginary where the occult folk and industrial music shake hands in an extreme amalgam, which invites us to dance and let ourselves be carried away by obsessive rhythms and electric discharges that will lead us to a true and unique physical and sonorous experience.

Currently they have just completed a long European tour in which they have taken their show to Belgium, Holland, France, Germany and Switzerland. With this tour they bring to an end the journey of their latest album, Aullidos Metálicos, Humo 2016, with which they have performed throughout Europe and participated in the most important festivals in the state. During this period they have also produced four soundtracks for four films by the Russian-American surrealist director Maya Deren, staged in several film festivals. At this moment they are starting the work for their next

Everything is Dirty

The two members of Fasenuova, Roberto Lobo and Ernesto Avelino, join forces with video artist Cristina Busto to create a stage production Everything is Dirty that breaks with all the conventions of the audiovisual medium. The images shape the space while the three creators evolve on stage interacting with cameras, projectors and sound instruments, as well as starring in a cascade of actions of a markedly theatrical nature.

The ensemble offers a reflection of post-industrial society and knowledge, at times crude and real; at others, plastic and poetic. Cristina Busto’s images are thrown in all directions accompanied by the soundtrack that Fasenuova has created for them, while the three of them star in a series of performative events that dynamize the whole performance in a thrilling way. It is difficult to frame the show, as it is situated at a crossroads between audiovisual, concert, performance and experimental theater.
