Project in residence
CICADA is the music project of Sara Muñiz, violist, and Jose A. Rilla, programmer; two composers and interpreters with a long experience collaborating with very remarkable projects of the Spanish indie scene, such as Pablo Und Destruktion, Melange, Captains, Nacho Vegas, Manta Ray or Viva Las Vegas.
Their debut album by the same name, mixed by Óscar Mulero and self-published through the label Framily presents a dreamlike trip where electronic and acoustical instruments are the vehicle to travel a path full of junctions and elevation changes.
Building bridges between different media, disciplines, techniques and technologies, the detailed design of its sound is at the service of an exploration without maps, by means of elements that connect our most obscure past with our most cryptic present.
Hypnotic drones, winding viola loops and dense poly-rhythms invite to move between different states of conscience, in an intense itinerary that takes us from introspection and abstraction to the primal ecstasy of dance.
Cicada is one of the music groups selected in the 2018 call for residencies.
