Antonio I. Alonso, also known as Tai, is a musician from Salamanca currently based in Avilés, whose most relevant pseudonyms are Suisad, an alternative folk project, and Gaia Darko, an emotional electronic music project. Tai defines himself as an apprentice of everything when it comes to music, using his notions of guitar, bass, voice, synthesizers and electronic music production in his creations. Although the genres of Suisad and Gaia Darko seem to be opposites, there is a common thread between the two: both respond to the need to express oneself emotionally and aesthetically, and to do this in an autonomous, independent and unadulterated way. Suisad, a project currently on hiatus, was most relevant in the years from 2015 to 2019, when two works were released, an eponymous EP and another entitled A Desert. Gaia Darko is the most recent project and its current activity consists of DAWless live sets and jams published on social networks at the moment. It is also a pseudonym that has occasionally been used for DJ sets, although it is not the main focus of this project.
Project in residence
Gaia Darko is a project of emotional electronic music that is governed mainly by three principles: the creation of artisan and independent electronic music, the expression of emotions in an unadulterated and sincere way and the exploration of repetition as a musical resource, as well as other unconventional resources such as polyrhythms or chromatic jumps. This project aims to perform his work in a live DAWless format, using synthesizers, drum machines and other physical instruments, in a way that not only gives this project a risky live performance, but also opens up the possibility of improvisation.
