Project in residence
Amaranta Velarde and Alba G. Corral work during their residency at LABoral in a new phase of development of Mix-en-scene, a project originally initiated by Amaranta Velarde and developed in a first artistic residency at LABoral with the aim of presenting an acoustic-choreographic experience for the viewer.
In this new phase of Mix-en-scene, the artist and creative technologist Alba G. Corral joins the project to contribute to the investigation of the strategies of edition, accumulation, juxtaposition, dislocation and discontinuity in the materials, with the intention of creating a composition between body, action, audio and other scenic elements that make possible new structures and versions of the historical materials.
In this way, Mix-en-scene proposes an acoustic, visual and choreographic experience for the spectator, where the performer-dancer-dj plays live as well as dances and performs choreographic scores accompanied by visual pieces generated in real time.
The result is an acoustic and visual session that reproduces, versions and mixes (sampled) historical and iconic fragments of dance, music and visuals. The proposal makes a journey that experiments with chronology, the overlapping of styles and artistic principles, using post-production strategies and the Dj spirit of appropriation, manipulation and versioning of materials.
