Roc Jiménez de Cisneros (Barcelona, 1975) is an artist. In 1996 he founded the computer music group EVOL, through which he has articulated much of his artistic production to date. EVOL, which now also features British artist Stephen Sharp, is a deconstruction of rave culture and altered mental states through sound. His works have been published by international labels like Entr’acte, Editions Mego, Diagonal, Presto!?, Or ALKU, label co-directed since 1997.
His work has been exhibited in numerous group shows, festivals, museums, clubs and galleries in Europe, North America and Asia. Among his installations and recent multimedia pieces are included: Continuum Expanded (installation that was shown at Soundproof 4 London, 2011; SoundSpill, The Hague, 2012, The Experimental MusicYearbook, Los Angeles, 2013); Tetralemma + Tetrafluoroethane (multichannel electroacoustic piece for Lampo in Graham FoundationforAdvancedStudies in the Fine Arts, Chicago, 2011); Rara Avis (collective multichannel installation at the Museo de la Ciencia de Barcelona, CosmoCaixa, 2011); A very short proof of Forester’srigidityresult (piece composed for 48 speakers by Mark Fell, released in BIACS, Seville Biennial 2008, and exhibited at the Istanbul Biennial 2010, Vienna 2011, and ZKM Media Museum, 2012-2013); Hands in the air, reachfor the laser (multichannel installation in DiapasonGallery, New York, 2010); Mentasmic Score for Wave Field SynthesisSystem (192 speakers piece premiered in Barcelona, 2012); Untitled (for Sample volume, The House On, Madrid, 2013); Hyperobject-1 (shown in OFF SENSES | FUTURE SENSES, GEMAK, The Hague and Art Brussels, Brussels, 2014); Opus 17th FAT Interval (in Interval exposure to the Fundació Antoni Tàpies, Barcelona, 2014); Opus17aSlimeVariation # 5 (multichannel installation presented at the gallery Call & Response, London, 2015).
