Noemi Iglesias Barrios

Noemi Iglesias Barrios (Asturias, 1987) is an artist who defines herself by working with sculptural media and long-lasting performative formats, she is a clear example of contemporary nomadism: since 2009, Noemí has lived and worked in Greece, England, Belgium, Hungary, China and Korea.

In 2019 she received her Master’s degree in Porcelain from the Taiwan National University of the Arts, where she studied about contemporary ceramic practices thanks to the Taiwanese Government’s ROC Taiwan Scholarship.

She has received the Artificial Empathy residency in Gluon (BE) through the European Digital Deal initiative with her project The Falling City, as well as the María de Salamanca National Printmaking Award from the Museum of Contemporary Spanish Printmaking and the Unicaja Foundation Award for Craftsmanship. His work has been shown at the Thyssen Bornemisza Museum in Madrid, DG Connect of the European Commission, iMAL Center for Digital Culture and Technologies in Brussels, Electron Festival in Switzerland, Gimhae Clayarch Museum in Korea, Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art in Japan, Yingge Ceramics Museum and MOCA in Taiwan, among others.

In January 2024 she opened her first solo exhibition Love me Fast at the Museo Nacional Thyssen Bornemisza in Madrid, curated by Rocío de la Villa, and in December of that year she opened the solo exhibition Landscapes of Affection at the Museo de Bellas Artes de Asturias, curated by Blanca de la Torre.
