In less than one year the band Mujeres (debut album, s/t -Sones, 2009- was released in December) has gone from playing their fusion of garage, rock’n’roll and punk in small bars and clubs in Barcelona to a whole string of cities, auditoriums and festivals in several different countries, with over 50 performances this year alone.
Special mentions go to their three performances in Primavera Sound 2010, the tour that took them to the UK in May (The Great Escape, Brighton; Liverpool Sound City; Manchester and London) and their summer visit to the Italian festivals Soundlabs and Here I Stay.
Prior to this, Mujeres were one of the 10 finalists in Diesel U:Music, the international talent contest attracting thousands of artists from all over the world. The prestigious producer Blinkink took advantage of the occasion to make a video of the song Reyerta in London, currently being broadcasted non-stop on MTV. The reviews of their concerts, chockfull of energy and infectious hits, together with the unanimous reaction from public and critics alike, have earned Mujeres huge acclaim.
Mujeres is currently presenting its album at festivals and concerts, including another trip to the UK planned in October and their first performance in the US this spring.
