Javier Bejarano

In 2001, he began his exhibition career. Since then, he has participated in various exhibitions in places as diverse as Cite Universitaire Paris, Festival Kunstbunker Croatia, Affordable Art Fair London, Madrid Foto, Estampa and PhotoEspaña.

In 2018, he received the ‘Master of Author Photography’ scholarship from the Bilbao Centre for Contemporary Photography. Parallel to his photographic career, he has developed another musical career alongside pianist Verónica R. Galán, under the pseudonym Galgo. He is also an active member of the band Fee Reega. He shares the audio-visual project Monochrome with producer Oscar Mulero and has been a guitarist for the artist Rodrigo Cuevas. He was also co-director of the Trendelenburg Audiovisual Encounter in Gijón for its first three editions, curator for Laboral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial and coordinator of the artistic project Métete en Jardines.

Between 2021 and 2002, he was curator of the ‘Sonoridades’ cycle at Replika Teatro (Madrid). In 2022, he composed the soundtrack for Arquitectos del aire, a stage production that aims to convey the history and architecture of buildings through dance.

At the end of 2022, he self-published his second photobook, Antiguas Estrellas Heladas (Old Frozen Stars), which was chosen by the Photo Art Books platform as one of the 20 best international photobooks of the year. In 2023, he created the installation Luna de piedra, espejo de sal (Stone Moon, Salt Mirror), inspired by the work of Haruki Murakami, for the Princess of Asturias Awards. In 2025, he was selected for the El Palacio de Gijón artist residency to develop the project Zona de Penumbra (Penumbra Zone), an open project currently in development.

He currently co-directs the Framily record label and the Mirror Festival and continues to develop his personal projects as a musician and photographer.
